About
My work revolves around creating order in the often unpredictable world of maritime operations. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to manage critical activities in some of Brazil’s busiest ports—Itaqui, Santos, Vitória, and Paranaguá. Currently, I serve as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Seachios® Marine Services, where my focus is on delivering solutions that prioritize efficiency, safety, and adherence to international standards.
The maritime industry operates on precision and timing. A minor oversight can cascade into costly delays or safety risks. My role involves ensuring that doesn’t happen.
Services and Expertise
Working in the maritime sector means adapting to a wide range of challenges. Here are the core areas where I focus my efforts:
Risk Assessment and Loss Prevention
Every operation begins with identifying risks. From environmental factors to equipment reliability, the key is to implement preventive measures before problems arise. This includes:
- Designing protocols aligned with P&I Standards Britannia.
- Conducting detailed inspections to reduce the likelihood of claims or liabilities.
- Establishing clear communication channels to ensure swift issue resolution.
Cargo Hold Cleaning and Maintenance
Cargo holds must meet stringent cleanliness and compliance standards, especially for sensitive or perishable goods. Ensuring they are prepared and inspected minimizes the risk of contamination and ensures readiness for the next shipment.
Anchor and Chain Operations
Anchors and chains are essential yet often overlooked components of maritime operations. Inspections and timely replacements are critical to maintaining safety and operational reliability.
Port Logistics Optimization
Ports are bustling hubs where every second counts. My work involves:
- Streamlining docking, loading, and unloading processes.
- Coordinating with port authorities to minimize delays.
- Implementing logistics solutions that enhance operational flow.
Environmental and Regulatory Compliance
Compliance isn’t just about following rules; it’s about embedding sustainability into operations. By aligning activities with MARPOL and other regulations, I help protect marine ecosystems while maintaining operational integrity.
Working Within P&I Standards Britannia
The P&I Standards Britannia set a global benchmark for safety, reliability, and claims prevention. These standards aren’t just guidelines—they’re the foundation of every decision and process I oversee. Whether it’s minimizing risks to crew and cargo or ensuring operations align with international norms, these standards are central to my work.
- Preventive Maintenance: Regular equipment checks and updates to avoid disruptions.
- Clear Documentation: Ensuring all operations are backed by thorough records to streamline audits or claims processes.
- Incident Avoidance: Proactively addressing potential risks before they escalate.
Why Prioritize Loss Prevention?
Loss prevention is more than a strategy—it’s a philosophy. In an industry where margins are tight and risks are high, proactive measures save time, money, and resources. By embedding loss prevention into every stage of an operation, it’s possible to:
- Protect the integrity of cargo and equipment.
- Enhance safety for crews and stakeholders.
- Avoid unnecessary delays and financial losses.
These principles are the backbone of how I approach challenges, ensuring smooth and secure operations.
A Commitment to Leadership and Collaboration
Leadership in the maritime sector isn’t about directing from above—it’s about working alongside teams and stakeholders to achieve shared goals. Over my career, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with professionals from diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique perspectives to the table. This has allowed me to:
- Foster better communication across complex operations.
- Develop reporting tools that provide clear, actionable insights.
- Build resilient networks that respond effectively to unforeseen challenges.
A Personal Approach to Maritime Operations
Behind every project or operation is a team of people, and I believe that understanding the human element is just as important as the technical details. Balancing professionalism with a collaborative mindset helps create solutions that are not only effective but also practical and sustainable.
